A celebration of our Northern food producers

We’re extremely excited as we count down the days to Rheged. Yep – our favourite event of the year, where our northern gang of food producers head north for the Forty Farmers Event, taking place on Saturday 5 July.

So what’s new we hear you shout?

We’ve got some delicious Ginger & Marmalade Bake (description). Florence (our bread truck) will be overflowing with lots of tasty sourdoughs, the coffee machine will be steaming and we’ll have an abundance of scrumptious pastries to go. What’s not to like?

There’s new folk in town. Kendal Farmers Market gang recently welcomed some new traders, including Bean & Dunne coffee roasters, Cross Apiary a family team of beekeepers, Martindale Muscovies & Waterfowl who are ‘quakers’ about free range eggs and The Smoky Barrel who run an award-winning smokehouse, making this an event worth visiting.

A great line-up…

Throughout the day there will be various guest speakers, including ourselves:

11 am – Lovingly Artisan – The Truth is in the Grain

We’ll be heading to centre stage to share our journey so far and to let you into our little secret about what we’re up to with our new adventure in the world of milling and the grain we’re growing in Penrith with our dear, and good friends from Eden Yard.

12 pm – Outdoor Cooking with Westmorland Kitchen’s Executive Chef & Head of Food. They’ll also be a cooking demonstration – worth a tasty peak!

1 pm – Beetham Nursery – Perennial Perfection: choosing the right plants for our Cumbrian gardens, followed by a Q&A session so ask questions about your own garden.

2.30 pm – Woman Grows Jeans Film – An intro and Q&A with Justine Aldersey-Williams – Get your tickets here.

This is a true celebration of northern food which just gets better year on year. Make it a date with food and drink. Get your ‘best gang’ together and head north for a tasty day of scrumptious delights with the northern folk.
