Bake for the Ukraine with Lovingly Artisan

Bake for the Ukraine with Lovingly Artisan is all about hearts and hands. Lots of baker’s hearts, with busy hands this month.  We kick-started April with Baking for Ukraine with the generous support of Matthew’s Flours. Our customer’s kindness was inspirational. So many filled freezers, made butties and created pack lunches for the fellside. We are sure it will not be the last thing we do together.

If you have any ideas or you are fundraising for something, we are always happy to gift a Breakfast in Bed Box or a few artisan treats so we stand tall side by side, it’s the little folks in the end that inspire those far bigger and powerful.

Three cheers to you all as we Bake for the Ukraine

You came, you bought, you filled your freezers, creating a fantastic fund of £560.00. This may not be a world-changing amount in the grand scheme of things, yet we only wanted a little from many, as we said previously.

The bakers baked over 1050 ciabattas with the whole Lovingly Artisan Team committed to baking a difference. We needed to do something. Nothing feels normal anymore.

Since the pandemic, so much has changed. The only thing that’s remained consistent is our heart’s desire to make positive differences in the world when possible. Baking for Lovingly Artisan is all about placing bread in the centre of the table, and if we can make a small contribution to feeding families, we will do all we can.

You may already know that Lovingly Artisan donates bread and lots of lovingly baked loaves each week to an incredibly inspirational local charity. Waste to Wellness is a fabulous local charity that makes a massive difference to all those it supports weekly. It’s an incredible Cumbrian charity that makes an enormous difference to families across the county week by week.

This Kendal charity is right on our doorstep. Many of the volunteers shop with us at our Kendal Bread Store in the Lake District. We have known the coordinators for years, yet we know no one in Ukraine, and it’s not on our doorstep; it’s on the doorstep of our Polish friends, a country of fabulous people who have opened their homes and fed and clothed strangers.

Our Bread Banter of the week was that of disbelief and shock for some customers; they felt outraged by all that was unfolding for innocent people, humble folks just going about their daily lives.

Thank goodness for Matthew’s Flour. A telephone call from Bertie asking if we would help.  We volunteered instantly, without a second thought. Baking with Lovingly Artisan is all about feeding nutritional loaves to as many as possible. If we can provide loaves for those in Kendal, we felt inspired to Bake for Ukraine in a different way.  And with your support, our wonderful customers, who bought the wares, invested with the same motive of doing something.

We want to thank everyone who came by the Bread Stores. If you still want to do something, take a peek at all that Matthew’s Flour is encouraging. You could have a cake sale or donate to make a difference.
