Narrated by Downton Abbey actor Jim Carter The Lakes and The Coast aims to capture a rich slice of life in one of the UK’s most popular holiday destinations.

Filmed throughout the summer of 2023

The series celebrates old traditions and welcomes new life, with unique access to historic homes and ancient gardens, as well as a range of characters who live and work in this idyllic location.

Produced by Yorkshire-based Air TV. Air TV’s Managing Director Matt Richards said: “Cumbria is home to England’s most dramatic and celebrated national park, but there’s far more to this county than just The Lakes.

With sandy beaches, sleepy villages and fascinating industrial heritage, the Cumbrian coast is an undiscovered world of amazing landscapes and fascinating people.

Harry Jackson from Winter Tarn Dairy commented: ‘’Cumbria is a fantastic place in which to live, work and do business and it’s close to our hearts. We were thrilled to be asked by Air TV to get involved with the new series and to have the opportunity to share a little insight as to how we go about crafting our award-winning handmade artisan butter, which we supply all outlets including café, Michelin-starred restaurants, food service businesses and bakeries up and down the country including Lovingly Artisan who use our butter sheets to make their delicious croissants.’’

Aidan Monks from Lovingly Artisan Bakery said: ‘’It’s always great to be involved with projects like this, having the opportunity to showcase where we live and work and to share what we do in tandem with our food-producing colleagues across the region is fantastic. The quality of the food and drink offer in Cumbria is known the world over and we’re proud to play our small part in that. It’s a constantly developing, growing, and diversifying industry, and we as a company do our utmost to champion that fact, as well as doing our bit to encourage more people locally to think about careers in food and drink and hospitality in the county and grab the opportunities that are out there.

Cumbria: The Lakes and The Coast is Air TV’s first series for Channel 5 and starts on Wednesday 17th July at 8pm
