Real Bread – Campaigning for bread
Lately, we have all found ourselves within a topsy-turvy world, full of confusion. Yet one of the things the Lovingly Artisan crew are sure of, is the graft being done by The Real Bread Campaign, focussing on supporting the next generation of bakers.
For some time now, we have been searching for a charity that we can actively support. Positively utilising our energy and passion for education and sharing knowledge with a mission to develop the understanding of #realbread #sourdough and how it affects those we bake for… YOU.
You have been our lockdown hero’s; devouring all that we bake, tapping into our food stories on @lovinglyartisan and within our Bakery Club, yet we would like to do more. With your help, the journey will be far jollier to travel.
Who wants to be a baker? Let us help YOU with Knead to Know
If you have an interest or are intrigued about baking in general or becoming a baker, take a peek at ‘Knead to Know’ https://crowdfunder.co.uk/knead-to-knowmore-microbakery-handbook
It’s a handbook for those that crave the knowledge and insight into bakery life and becoming an artisan. None of this was available when many bakers’ careers began, whereas now we live in a fabulous world with a landscape of generous baking knowledge and sharing – And we salute that mantra.
The role of Real Bread Campaign ambassador – Aidan Monks
We will be passionately broadcasting knowledge and supporting the Real Bread Campaign through our workshops and blog stories. It’s a real privilege to become a Real Bread Campaign Ambassador. A role which, as a company, we take very seriously.
We are the guardians of our artisan industry, protecting the heritage as a gift for the next generation of artisan bakers. We want to leave a toolbox of knowledge and skill, whilst never losing sight of everything our ancestors achieved naturally. Baking bread the real way isn’t new, it’s been a way of life for bakers for generations.
The baking methods we use are thousands of years old; as we develop, we innovate further without compromising the approaches to slowly fermented bread. The core ingredients of flour, salt and water along with patience; no additives, no artificial ingredients or ingredients that serve no purpose to the health and well-being of those we bake for. We use ancient methods with modern-day thinking.
“LONG BEFORE SOURDOUGH BECAME FASHIONABLE, IT WAS AN ESSENTIAL ASPECT OF THE WAY WE LEAD OUR LIVES AS BAKERS.“
The disciplines of blending ancient grains with traditional approaches are driven by our determination to produce nutritious sourdough. A style of sourdough that actively contributes to the well-being of all those that devour our loaves; just as a herbalist blends and heals in their pursuit of natural medicine, we blend and mould too with a similar quest in mind” Aidan Monks, Real Bread Campaign Ambassador
