If you’re not familiar with the area, how about a weekend wander to see some of the gorgeous views on offer? Here are a few of our best-loved places to picnic. Perfect for a stroll with the family, followed by a delicious basket of munchies.
Tarn Hows – Tarn Hows is a magical place. A gorgeous walk situated between the villages of Coniston and Hawkshead. It’s a circular walk that offers easy access with breathtaking views of the surrounding fells and beautiful water reflections. A must for photography enthusiasts, have your phone or camera at the ready. A gentle walk with your best gang and lots of lovely places to stop off for a picnic by the tarn.
The Limestone Pavement – Scout Scar
Another family favourite, just a short drive or a 45-minute walk from Kendal. Scout Scar offers the best views across the Lyth Valley and the Cumbrian fells, and it’s great if you’re interested in the limestone pavement formations. The walk is relatively easy for the family, making it suitable for walkers of all ages – an ideal location for a quiet stroll or picnic.
Arnside Knott
And lastly, this lovely walk is located on the border of the Lake District, just a short trip into Lancashire. Arnside Knott is a hill that offers sweeping views over Morecambe Bay and the Cumbrian fells. Another circular walk where you can park in the car park located on the top of the knott, then head over to Silverdale along the coastal path, enjoying a picnic along the way- a relatively easy walk for all the family and a treat. A rewarding walk with some beautiful scenery, so it’s a must if you love to capture a few photos along the way.
