Westmorland Show 7th & 8th September 2022

C’mon over to our tent

September has arrived, and there’s a big red circle on the calendar marked Westmorland Show!

We LOVE the Westmorland Show. It’s our favourite event of the year. Our beautiful county pulls on its wellies to celebrate its farming, food and country traditions, and the atmosphere is like nothing else.

We love seeing all the animals, clipped and combed for their turns in the show ring. We love watching the craftspeople demonstrating their ancient skills. We love sharing the glee of local schoolchildren as they admire the shiny tractors and pinch themselves because they’re already on a school trip  – and it’s only the first week of term!

But most of all we love the Westmorland Food Hall (aka the enormous tent), one of the biggest and best regional food halls in the country. We’re honoured to join our fellow farmers and food producers in flying the flag for Cumbrian food from land to plate.

You’ll find Aidan, Catherine and the team at our Lovingly stand, sharing our gorgeous slow-fermented sourdough and telling the stories of the British growers and millers who help us create it. Do pop by and try some of our picnic-friendly focaccia, available by the slice – Kalamata Olive, Garlic & Herb, Garlic & Cheese, if you’re asking.

Wednesday 7 and Thursday 8 September, 8am-5.30pm, Lane Farm, Crooklands, Milnthorpe, Cumbria LA7 7NH. Tickets at westmorlandshow.co.uk

That back-to-school feeling

New pencil case? Check. PE kit? Check. Packed lunch…?

We’re all about making every meal count here at Lovingly Artisan. If you’re going to put your lunch between two slices of bread, we want them to be the tastiest, most nourishing slices of bread they can be.

At our Bread Stores we can slice any of our freshly baked sourdough loaves to order. Tins, boules and bloomers, as thin or thick as your lunchbox requires.

Have you tried Lancashire and tomato on our Cheese & Marmite Sourdough (possibly the best cheese sandwich there is)? Or sweet, toasty Malted Barley with creamy egg and cress? We’re always keen to hear what you put between your slices. So pop by and see us at Lovingly HQ in Kendal or Altrincham Market and we’ll slice your loaf just so.

#SourdoughSeptember is 10!

Sourdough is our daily bread. We’ve been baking it for nearly 40 years. We love talking about this ancient way of baking, which fires our creativity and inspires our partnerships with innovative British growers and millers of organic flours and heritage grains.

So you can imagine how much we relish Sourdough September, a month-long celebration of slow fermentation, wild-yeast baking and all things bubbly and lactic. What a perfect excuse to share our excitement about how good sourdough tastes, how good it makes us feel and how much our gut bacteria loves it.

Coordinated by the Real Bread Campaign, whose mission is to make simple good bread – made without processing aids and other artificial chemical additives – easily accessible to everyone, Sourdough September celebrates its 10th year this month. We’ll be joining in on our social channels and by holding special tastings in our Bread Stores and with some of our stockists, including the Westmorland Farmshop at Tebay Services.
