Britain’s Best Loaf – flavoured sourdough!
Dark Chocolate Malt and Orange – Britain’s Best Loaf Awards
You may think we have won enough awards, perhaps one too many. However, we always want to strive for more, to push boundaries, and to innovate our delicious loaves just for you.
What does winning mean? Britain’s Best Flavoured Sourdough
We are on track, still perfecting, never giving up. We are developing ourselves and our team. A creative life is a learning life. We learn from the wins but also from the misses. The Dark Chocolate Malt Orange is a real innovation. It’s a tricky loaf to bake and make, but that’s where the magic happens—on the edge of your comfort zone!
Let’s tell you more about this far-from-humble loaf. A cracking alternative for this year’s Easter Egg.
Our inspiration
We created this indulgent loaf to grace the top tier of any afternoon tea. Serve it at home when munching with friends to mark the imminent arrival of garden party season.
But it’s equally at home served with a cuppa for breakfast, gently toasted with butter and a generous spoonful of marmalade. And if you’re dashing about, it makes a great slice on the go; it is simply delicious on its own. A chocolate lovers’ dream loaf, taking you from early morning cosy-up breakfast to evening suppers – add a dollop of ice cream to a slice for a yummy dessert! Our aim with every loaf we create is to produce bread that can be eaten anytime, from breakfast to brunching and lunchtime munching.
The eat appeal
Fragranced with Mediterranean orange peel, studded with dark Belgian chocolate, and enriched with the unusual addition of brewers’ chocolate malt to deliver natural sweetness, nutty notes, and a chocolatey background, this loaf is for every conceivable occasion.

The ingredients and taste bud teasers
Orange peel: The peel adds contrast, texture and flavours that complement the malted chocolate, helping to balance the sweetness of the Belgian chocolate pieces.
Warminster Maltings: Chocolate malt adds flavour, additional crunch, and texture, the perfect combination to contrast the softness of the chocolate and orange.
Darkly roasted barley develops chocolatey characteristics through roasting and nutty background flavours.
Characteristic: This is a naturally chewy, textured yet soft marbled loaf full of flavour and rich ingredients, which means this loaf has fantastic keeping qualities.
