What’s not to like about bread and wine? Many know we are rather partial to our Saturday wine treat from Reserve Wines at Altrincham Market! It’s our treat of the week! If you’re anything like us, those Saturday nights can’t come soon enough…
If you LOVE your wine
- Ask for a recommendation – their advice is always honest and informing
- Make a note of your favourites – we have a rather long list
- Explore new wines and pair them with your snacks and sourdoughs
We always leave far more knowledgeable and inspired – we are no longer stuck in a wine buying rut! Exploring new countries, grapes and producers has been our lockdown distraction.
The whole concept of the selecting sourdoughs, and pairing them with beautiful wine is rather magical #weekendfun
Big learns from our summer when wine shopping at Alty
Chardonnay partners perfectly with our Spiced Apple Sourdough and Camembert! It’s delicious…
I have to confess we were far from ”Chardonnay” fans, in fact, quite the opposite. From not being a fan previously, I now find myself a total convert #thankyou reserve wine team!
Do you like a little pop, something chilled or bold and fruity?
Akarua, Central Otago Brut NV
Akarua Brut NV is a fresh aperitif style with floral perfumes and savoury bread dough aromas! With lovely balance and complexity, the palate is clean, has a creamy middle and a long, crisp finish.
A blend of 67% Chardonnay, 33% Pinot Noir.
Pair with: Lovingly Artisan Sourdough Baguette with salty butter made by Winter Tarn Dairy!
Chardonnay is renowned for being one of the most versatile grapes in the world. It has an unmistakable taste and quality which is what makes it so popular. Chardonnay can be citrusy & lean but also rich, buttery & full-bodied. We offer all different styles so get browsing.
Belleville, Puligny Montrachet, Les Boudrieres. 2014
A very expressive nose of hawthorn, ripe grape, hazelnut, almond paste and green apple. Secondary aromas of butter, hot croissant, flint and honey. A well-balanced, very complex and fine wine. Marries well with foie gras, lobster, crawfish, and grilled or fried salt-water fish.
Pair with: Our Five Grain Rye Sourdough served with Mackerel Pate, cornichons with flat-leaf parley paired with a delicious light Pinot Noir.
Pinot Noir
Pinot Noir grapes are actually grown all over the world in cooler regions but are mainly associated with the Burgundy region of France. Pinot Noir wine holds the reputation as being one of the finest wines in the world but can be difficult to make.
Calusari, Pinot Noir 2019 – This is a family favourite!
The light, soft and welcoming nose of autumn fruits. Soft smooth & spicy flavours throughout with generous soft red fruit flavours & a lovely elegant finish. Can be served cool with fish or at room temperature with the game or spicy foods.
