Give yourself a break-fast

This is the way we start the day –

A wise woman* once asked: ‘Why would anyone ever eat anything but breakfast food?’ Why indeed? As bakers and (very) early risers, we absolutely love our breakfast. Whatever the intermittent fasters might tell us, we think it’s the most important meal of the day.

For us, running a small, busy business, breakfast isn’t just a fuel. It’s a feeling. Breakfast is the time we take for ourselves at the start of the day, to attend to our needs and set good intentions for the hours to come.

Sometimes we just want a great filtered coffee; other days we want a slice of nourishing wholegrain sourdough toast – hot, buttered sourdough toast being the eighth wonder of the world, as every food lover knows. What’s important is to sit down, smell the coffee, inhale the toastiness, relish the flavour and enjoy a few mindful minutes – even if we only have five of them.

Recently, we’ve been adding the crunch of homemade granola to the sensations that wake us up at breakfast time. We pour our golden grains into a bowl with creamy free-range milk. Or we sprinkle them over yoghurt and fruit, or stir a handful into our porridge. We’re loving our granola so much that we’ve decided now is the time to bring our tried-and-tweaked recipe out of Aidan and Catherine’s home kitchen and into our Bread Stores. For you!

If you think you know what granola tastes like, prepare to be wowed. Lovingly Artisan’s new toasted granola is made with the same gentle hands and thoughtful care as our slow-fermented breads and handmade pastries. We toast oats and millet, sunflower seeds, cinnamon, ginger in honey until golden brown, then toss with juicy raisins.

Simple. Perfection. In a hand-tied bag. Find it in our Bread Stores today.

Breakfast in a box

The best breakfast, as all mothers know, is the one you don’t have to make yourself. If it’s served on a breakfast tray with some spring flowers in a vase, so much more awesome. So do remember to pop into our Bread Stores at Plumgarths or Altrincham Market to stock up on saffron buns, croissants and sourdough bread to treat a special person this (Mothering) Sunday. And don’t forget that you can send bread love to members of your tribe at any time of year by ordering one of our Lovingly hand-wrapped Bread Boxes to their doorstep. Visit our website to see our full mail-orderable range.

Northern soulmates

A shoutout to the brilliant team at Booths in Kendal, who are giving so much love to our breads and pastries on their dedicated Lovingly Artisan bread counter. Our sourdough loaves, focaccia, and ciabattas are on sale seven days a week at their flagship Kendal store – alongside fabulous cheeses, meats, groceries and goodies from all the other small local makers they support.

Thank you Booths. True Northern food heroes.
