Dark Chocolate Malt with Orange
The season of new loaf – Meet our celebration sourdough
Spring is here at last – and what a Spring it’s going to be. Easter is coming. Bank holidays are coming. And the Coronation Weekend is only weeks away.
We’re in a sunny mood here at Lovingly HQ, and to celebrate the coming of (garden) party season we’ve created our most indulgent loaf yet.
Let us introduce you to Dark Chocolate Malt with Orange. Fragranced with Mediterranean orange peel, studded with Belgian chocolate and enriched with the natural sweetness of brewers’ chocolate malt, this glamorous little tin loaf was made for long and luxurious weekends.
Aidan was inspired to create it by a special ingredient from Warminster Maltings, the traditional producer of the malted barley grain that gives our Malted Barley Sourdough its award-winning nutty deliciousness.
Playing around with its chocolate malt – a type of roasted barley used by brewers to add colour and flavour to their stouts – he combined it with white sourdough, dark chocolate and dried orange peel from Marseilles… and a new classic was born.
This soft-crusted beauty could hold its own on the top tier of the grandest afternoon tea. But it also turns a cuppa into a mini celebration, filling the room with a zesty chocolate aroma as soon as it’s sliced. Try it for breakfast, gently toasted and spread with butter and your best marmalade, or cut it straight from the loaf to eat on the sofa while you put your feet up. Our besotted Bread Store teams will be handing out nibbles next week (while stocks last) at Plumgarths and Altrincham Market. So please come and share the love – and a very happy Spring to you all x
