Raising the dough for Growing Well

The last couple of years have been a roller coaster for many of us, and unfortunately, that’s taken its toll in some shape or form, resulting in more and more of us needing to access help, sadly putting even more strain on already overstretched charities.

Growing Well, based at Low Sizergh Farm, near Kendal, and at Westmorland Services, near Tebay, is one such charity, which relies on support from the public enabling them to help people that need its services now and will need its services in the future.

The organic horticultural enterprise

The organic horticultural enterprise and veg box scheme allows people to learn new skills, reconnect with nature, rebuild confidence, and reduce levels of depression and anxiety, helping them to progress or return to employment, education, or volunteering in the community. However, funding is limited, and considering the current economic landscape must stretch even further.

Lovingly Artisan is about nurturing

Lovingly Artisan is about nurturing your mind and body; we bake gut-health-loving loaves and Growing Well, produce organic soul-loving foods; fruit and vegetables that are good for your mind, as they are for your tummies.

Our Why

It is to make a difference to those we teach and those we know, who love learning. Learning from the landscape of Sizergh Barn, Growing Well.

Throughout 2023, Aidan Monks, partner Catherine Connor, and their team at Lovingly Artisan Bakery near Kendal raised funds for Growing Well by running a series of talks and bakery masterclasses throughout the year. Delivering to WI groups across the county and most recently to participants at a special weekend of bakery masterclasses held at Rheged, Penrith.

As a result of the team’s dedication and hard work, and generosity of their customers and event guests, Lovingly Artisan raised a total of £1040 to help support Growing Well’s work.

Catherine Connor, co-owner of Lovingly Artisan Bakery shared: ‘’We want to thank our wonderful customers in helping support our chosen charity of 2023, Growing Well.

We couldn’t have raised this amount of money without their generous support, and we want to thank them for helping us raise funds for this wonderful charity, and the work it continues to do with our local communities. Sadly, many more of us will inevitably need the support of organisations like Growing Well in the years ahead, which is why they deserve our full support to help them to continue to deliver the assistance they do.’’

Growing Well Manager, Sinead McCann commented: “We are so delighted and grateful of the effort which has gone into raising funds, the relationship we share is very important to us.  We love what Lovingly Artisan are all about, the parallels between us and shared values.”
