National Homemade Bread Day
National Homemade Bread day with Aidan Monks who will be talking Sourdough for the 3 Dads walking charity campaign! helping all celebrate #HomemadeBreadDay.
If you have a spare moment please read, perhaps share with your friends too celebrating National Homemade Bread Day.
If you are a frequent visitor to the Lovingly Artisan Bakery, you have more than likely bumped into someone who we have fondly nicknamed “Chilli George”. George was one of our first customers when the Bakery was based at Oxenholme.
A customer who quickly became addicted to Cheese and Chilli Sourdough, and a customer to whom we promptly became addicted, forming a very special friendship over the years. Sadly, George and Andy Airey lost their daughter Sophie, 29, just before Christmas 2018.
You may have seen recently the “3 Dads Walking”. Three fathers who sadly all lost their daughters to suicide have completed an incredible 300-mile walk to raise funds and awareness for suicide prevention.
Alongside Andy was Mr Palmer, who’s daughter Beth was just 17 when she took her own life in March 2020, a few days after Mr Owen’s 18-year-old daughter Emily died.
Mr Owen said the support and “acts of kindness” shown to them along their route had been “incredible”, and it had been a “great 15 days”.
He said they had met “hundreds” of people affected by suicide along the way.
And now I would like to make my contribution for our treasured “ George”
I would like to do One Dad Talking Sourdough, to nudge a little more money in their direction, and to do something for George – Sophie’s mum. Our customers become our bakery families, and as a Dad myself, it feels like a small act of kindness that all of our customers can get involved with for all of the “Georges and Andy’s” of the world. Together we can all do a little bit more…
For the next five days, all those that book a place on our Discover Sourdough Workshop running on the 20th February 2022, will have their fee donated to 3 Dads Walking with the motive of further raising awareness. Kick-starting the donations on “National Homemade Bread Day”
If you fancy learning all about making sourdough, this is your week to book, hesitate no longer, let’s do our bit on National Homemade Bread Day
