Great British Food Award
So there we were on a hot Friday afternoon, already buzzing at the prospect of a barbecue weekend and the holiday vibes of all our lovely customers.
Then, an email from The Great British Food Awards. THREE of our gorgeous sourdoughs have made it to the finals. And judging the bread category is the one and only baking legend Richard Bertinet!
We don’t mind telling you we whooped and jigged and the temperature at Bakery HQ got even higher. We’re so delighted to see our Danish Rugbrød, Malted Barley and Cheese & Chilli sourdoughs shortlisted in these fab Great British Food Awards because they’re all about celebrating the best of produce
It’s a nod not only to the skill and creativity of our bakers but to the talents of our brilliant suppliers: Gilchesters Organics, Cotswold Flour, Warminster Maltings and Mrs Kirkham’s Lancashire.
And to find out that Richard Bertinet is judging? He’s one of our heroes – ‘the nearest thing bakery will ever have to a Jedi’, as the food writer Tim Hayward described him (Tim, we love your style).
We hope Mr Bertinet loves our loaves, too. Fingers crossed for October
