Lovingly Artisan is on a road trip to Tebay
Loaf on the open road
Stop the traffic! Well, actually don’t. But do remember, next time you’re tootling along the M6 through Cumbria, to stop and visit the famous Tebay Services.
Why? Because in their beautiful Farmshop, where we have long enjoyed having a browse and buying lovely, lovely things, you can now find OUR gorgeous breads. Lovingly sourdough loaves made with organic flour and heritage grains, alongside picnic-ready ciabatta rolls and focaccias.
In good company
We’re lucky to share our home county of Cumbria with so many talented artisans and food producers. Tebay Services – which grew out of a local farm and celebrates its 50th birthday this year – has been celebrating the best of Cumbrian produce in its Farmshop for more than two decades.
It’s a pleasure working with the terrific team at Tebay to share our award-winning breads. You’ll find us in the Farmshop at Tebay North and Tebay South – between junction 38 and 39 of the M6, south of Shap.
Choices, choices
Our custom-made bread stands are loaded with all your favourites, fresh from our ovens at Lovingly HQ in Kendal. Sourdoughs made using a slow fermentation, containing heritage grains – Emmer, Einkorn and Spelt and Toasted Linseed – grown and milled by the inspirational people at Gilchesters Organics in Northumberland. Sourdough Grissini for dipping into an espresso for your breakfast (or wine when you get home). Squares of golden focaccia studded with, Kalamata Olives, Garlic and herb, Garlic and Cheese – a ready-made picnic to enjoy by the pond where Tebay’s resident ducks might get a little jealous (no feeding allowed).
Come and say hello
It’s so hard to choose from our loaves, we know. That’s why we’ll be at Tebay this Friday 19th August, hosting a tasting alongside local cheesemakers Appleby Creamery.
We’ll be showcasing our Malted Barley sourdough, a multi-award-winning loaf recently shortlisted in the prestigious Baking Industry Awards and Great British Food Awards. Its rich, nutty flavour comes from organic wholegrain flour and toasted barley sprouted traditionally on the malting floor at Britain’s oldest working maltings. It’s a great match for the mature Cheddar-style Eden Chieftain
Your new favourite?
Also much at home on a cheese plate, our Danish Rugbrød is a relevation. We love watching people’s faces when they try it for the first time. This Scandinavian style seeded sourdough, made with organic rye and wheat flour, looks dense on the counter but is delicate in the eating, its long finish really hitting your taste buds after you’ve chewed it. Slice it thinly onto a cheeseboard and smear with a generous knife-full of creamy Eden Valley Brie or tangy Black Dub Blue. We’ll warn you – it’s addictive. But you’ll be perfectly safe to drive!
